I've played a lot of drivers, screamers, and distortion pedals. This thing is a monster. A little buzz when all three switches are activated, but that's to be expected with this little dude.

EXTREMELY versatile. I just got it today and I haven't put it down for the past 2 hours. It's gonna take weeks to get through all of the tonal possibilities in this pedal.

By far the best pedal I've purchased. I'm extremely satisfied. (Posted on 3/24/15)

Couldn't resist picking one of these up after I watched the video reviews. Tore the package open like a kid on Christmas morning and plugged it in. I was blown away, and still am. It took me a bit to get the tone I wanted dialed in, but once I did, this thing really came alive. This thing screams, and there's a million tones you can pull out of it. Highly, highly recommend. a world of options  (By Rushmore)

This pedal is worth its weight in gold by merit of being not just six od's in one but being six od's with a boost and two separate channels in one, if an ocd or a maxon never worked for you because you ran a particular guitar that just happened to not like them or your blues driver was great but only when it gave full bean-age you can do away with all of the worry. The bandwidth dial opens this pedal up to everybody while the voice dial removes three pedals from your board (your od, your distortion and your boost). I can't wait to show mine off at my next gig! I don't normally spend time reviewing pedals, but there are so many reviews by people who don't even own this pedal...???

This pedal sounds great with all my guitars, LP, Strat, Tele, PRS w/narrowfields. It takes about a minute of tweakingb wen switching between guitars for thios to sound great. I've tried many OD's lately, and this one does really shine. You can get a standard TS sound, but why would you want to?...just get a TS if that's what you want. Both sides have much more gain on tap than a TS. The OD sound is very natural. This box works great through a cooking amp, or one that it totally clean.

If you want to complain about the price, stop whining, and save your money.

I have two issues with this box. First off, it just seems dumb that it has a single volume control with two gain controls. I would have loved to be able to have a rhythm and a lead setting, but you can't do this as there is not enough boost when switching from gain A to gain B...just dumb. Also, I don't mind so much that you can't engage the boost with the overdrive off, but this would have been a good idea. My problem with the boost is that it is either parallel, or after the OD. I like a boost before an OD to increase grit for lead work. This box really needs a switch to change the position of the boost, so it can be before or after the drive circuit.

Even with these shortcomings (to me), this is an amazing box, with tons of versatility, and a great overall tone. For a pedal with all these options, it is at the proper price point. This one's a keeper! (Posted on 6/27/14)

Will probably never replace my farourite OD ( Timmy) but it is a nice toll with so many combinatons. The key point is to be able to use all your guitares in one OD. Perfect for studio or home, on stage simple OD is enough.
Pretty cool sound and versatile

What an awesome pedal! It offers way more than I'll ever need. I'm able to remove 3-4 dirt and boost pedals from my board by having this. Earth Quaker Devices..., well done! This is a keeper! (Posted on 6/15/14)

This is a rather good pedal, excellent if you have different guitars, bandwidth and tone play very nicely if you switch from single coils to hum buckers, really good boost action, running it at 9v and plenty of headroom and good clean sound. definitely better than my green box TS's. I actually am considering ditching two other pedals, because i can easily achieve the same thing with the Palisades. (Posted on 5/30/14)

Plugged this thing in and was immediately blown away. Had a couple of other TS based overdrives, compared to The Palisades they all sounded like there was something wrong with them. And now they are all for sale. It's nice having one pedal that solves several problems. I used to use an EP Booster to add a little extra thickness to single coils but now when I switch from humbuckers to singles I just click the Bandwidth from 4 to 5, done! Also do not need the SHO i had been using at the end of my chain for clean boost anymore. On that subject if there was one thing I wish was different was that the clean boost does not work independent of the rest of the pedal. Small complaint. Aside from all the features at it's core it is an amazing sounding drive, best I have ever owned (and I've owned virtually every single one, my drive pedal obsession is legendary) While $249 might seem like a lot for one pedal, I was able to eliminate FOUR other pedals. I don't think I'm overstating when I say I believe this pedal is a total game changer and sets a new standard for all overdrive pedlas. (Posted on 5/27/14)

Rec'd mine last week and put it through the paces over the weekend. I first had it powered at 18V with my PP2+ - probably user error but I couldn't find anything I liked about it at first. Switched to a 9V slot and found what I was looking for - great tones and versatility. The two rotary switches help to dial in specific sounds with different guitar/pickup combinations (didn't try it with a different amp). Overdrive to higher gain settings are all there and the boost is a nice touch. This one will definitely knock a couple of other pedals off the board. With so many options I've only touched the tip of the iceberg!! It ain't cheap but I'm loving it! (Posted on 5/27/14)

I would love to trade in a few pedals to get this one. Generally it's either over the top, or weak. This seems to be the best of both worlds. (Posted on 5/20/14)

EarthQuaker Devices Palisades

Earthquaker Devices said they would never make this pedal, but now that it’s arrived, the Palisades has written the final chapter in the Tube Screamer codex.

Throughout pedal history, much ado has been made of the volumes of Tube Screamer modification lore—the mods are almost as old as the pedal themselves. From juiced input capacitors and buffer omission to onboard boosts and every flavor of diode clipping, the roads are well-traveled. Original TS808 engineer Susumu Tamura could not have foreseen the vast amount of knowledge dedicated to his craft, but it’s clear that due to the amount of refinement that has occurred in the decades since, the Tube Screamer is one of the effects world’s royal circuits. The sound is and has remained timeless for over 40 years, and now Earthquaker Devices has composed the unquestioned reference manual, the yardstick to which all other Tube Screamers can now be measured.

The Palisades hosts a dizzying array of options, none of which detract from the goal of exhausting the Tube Screamer’s potential. Popular mods such as a brightness switch and buffer bypass are certainly present. However, Earthquaker has also ventured where few have dared to tread with the addition of two rotary switches to control the value of the input capacitor (labeled “Bandwidth”) and the clipping diode configuration (labeled “Voice”). Most Tube Screamer variants that choose to include these options do so with a toggle switch, two positions for two different capacitors and three positions for clipping, the center of which is typically a diode lift, meaning no clipping. With the implementation of five- and six-way rotary switches—for Bandwidth and Voice, respectively—Earthquaker has greatly expanded the options that lie at the user’s fingertips.

Of course, Earthquaker isn’t simply content with a couple of rotary switches and the like; they’ve also added two separate gain channels—A and B—that the player can toggle via a footswitch. And not to be outdone by literally any pedal on the market, a boost is also included which can be activated via a third footswitch. Effectively, this turns the Palisades into four different Tube Screamer configurations on a player’s pedalboard at once—Gain A with or without boost and Gain B with or without boost. Add in the Voice, Bandwidth, Buffer and Bright switches and the number of combinations becomes a staggering 480. Truly, the Palisades is a Tube Screamer for the ages and beyond.

  • Five-way bandwidth selector, from leaned out to robust
  • Six-way clipping switch, featuring silicon, asymmetrical, LED, MOSFET, Schottky and diode lift
  • Buffer on/off
  • Brightness switch
  • Two independent footswitchable gain channels
  • Footswitchable boost circuit
  • -9vdc operation
