- Best. Thing. Ever. (By Moskosaurus)

Delivery was prompt, no complaints there. I expected the pedal to look like the one in the PGS picture. It didn't. I was pleasantly stunned to open the box and see a beautiful custom paint job featuring a hot 3-eyed chick and some green tentacles! Awesome!
Time to plug it in! I have an Epiphone SG with Gibson humbuckers > Fuzzhugger(fx) Phantom Arcade > 1979 Fender Twin Reverb. My particular amp isn't as clean as most Twins and I have a sweet mildly overdriven sound using the master volume and the EQ maxed out. Maybe it's just the kind of guy I am, but I tend to like the way things sound with all the knobs maxed. The only exception on this pedal is with the Turbo knob. If you crank this one the sounds are unmanageable, so in Turbo mode it pays to tweak it until your sound just starts to turn wild around the edges. For me this comes with the knob at about 1 or 2 o clock. But more on Turbo mode in a bit.
Mode 1, right footswitch, octave up: adds a slight bit of gain, with some ring-mod flavors. The octave up is most prominent on upper frets. Chords sound jumbled & mangled.
Mode 2: left footswitch, octave down: dirtier than mode 1, I have trouble hearing the lower octave but it is clearly a nasty, heavy compressey fuzz.
Mode 3 is nonexistent to me, since that Turbo switch is just so enticing. Mode 4, both footswitches and Turbo lever engaged: I have caught the dragon.
This is what a guitar should sound like. Single notes are reminiscent of back when fuzzboxes were intended to make guitars sound like other instruments. The Stones' Satisfaction horn tone is nailed with ease. Power chords are towering walls of doom. High-pitched weedly-wee notes take on the screeching menace of a Pterodactyl. And with that Turbo knob tuned just right, I can adjust the dynamics of my playing to cause all kinds of haunted-arcade-glitch-noises. The guitar's volume knobs become oscillators and can make the signal jump up and down octaves. The interaction between the pedal and the Twin Reverb's Tremolo effect is beyond my ability with the english language to emphasize, it is mind blowing.
This pedal is heaven for a psychedelic rocker like myself. I'm going to sell all of my other pedals now. That is all. Thank you PGS and Fuzzhugger!

FuzzHugger Phantom Arcade
FuzzHugger Phantom Arcade
Not your run of the mill ring modulator, the FuzzHugger Phantom Arcade garners a host of vintage video game sounds as well as clean-ish octave up (Mode 1) and dirty octave down (Mode 2) effects. Mode One is an octave up circuit controlled by the 1-Up control, dial it far left for full octave up effect or far right for dying sputter. Mode Two is octave down fuzziness with a more ring mod type of feel and tone. The Glitch knob adjusts the octave down intensity and glitchiness for a host of tonal phantoms that will keep you awake at night. Mode Three is both Mode One and Two activated at the same time. This produces octave up fuzz with high gain and nasty fuzz. The Turbo mode is where the FuzzHugger Phantom Arcade really gets fun. This is every circuit in the pedal active at once and it is truly inspiring to hear the glitches, oscillations, and phantoms of a haunted arcade coming from your pedalboard. The FuzzHugger Phantom Arcade is just as fun as the arcades we grew up in but you don't need a quarter to play.
