got it a month ago. really practical and easy to use pedal. for the price, you get so much out of it. Only complain I have is that the input and output jacks are so close to each other. makes it harder boards with tight spaces. Nevertheless, this is one sick pedal! (Posted on 3/7/16)
Really rich  (By Lance Z)

I originally hesitated to buy the Caverns because it wasn't stereo. Then, I figured I could "stereo-ize" it by feeding into a stereo pedal like the Alter Ego and/or Polara. Wow. Now I think I'd find uses for it as straight mono. Of the recent purchases I've made--all of which have been stellar (aforementioned Alter Ego x4, and Polara)--the Caverns pedal has been the surprise. I especially like the delay part of the pedal. I was looking for a kind of droning-ish vibe in the studio. I ended up going into an FB-2 to add some top-end tone shaping, since I was otherwise going direct into the Caverns stomp box. From there, I fed the Caverns output into a Akai Head Rush E2. With the E2 in "Tape Echo" mode, I fed the E2's "HD1" through "HD4" outputs respectively into mono preamp channels, panning them variously. Then I fed the E2's "Mix" output (which is a thru output while in "Tape Echo" mode) into a DigiTech Polara stereo reverb, and out of it to a pair of stereo-linked channels panned hard left and right. I was also separately splitting the output signal of the Boss FB-2 into a the mono input of a TC Electronics Alter Ego x4, stereo outs of that into the stereo ins of a TC Electronics Trinity T2 reverb box, whose left/right outputs went into a a stereo-linked pair of channels panned hard left/right. Eight channel of ambient awesomeness! Once I dialed in some great sounds, the Caverns ended up being the special sauce for that session. I set the delay pretty short, like 60-100ms, with the feedback ("regen") all the way clockwise. It kept the Caverns borderline self-oscillating, but because of the short delay time it was just shy of self-oscillation. I also used a rich Caverns reverb setting, with the "Tone" all the way counter-clockwise to roll off all the highs from the reverb. The Caverns delay anchored the whole ambient blob, providing the rich creamy center. Very cool. (Posted on 9/15/15)
Two Stellar Effects in One Compact Unit  (By Mike)

I've owned many amps without reverb, and have struggled to find an affordable, realistic-sounding spring reverb pedal. On that list, the best to date are the T-Rex Tone Bug Reverb and the Hermida Reverb 3. However, I'm a set-it-and-forget-it reverb guy, and didn't want something taking up extra pedalboard space (might as well be in the back of my amp with a remote footswitch). I tried the Dispatch Master, but it just wasn't convincing enough for me. Enter the Caverns. I figured Robert Keeley would knock it out of the park and he did! Great tone on both sides. Reverb goes from subtle to huge room effects, and the delay can go short to long. I thought the delay might have too much inherent modulation but that was not the case when I got it on my board. You probably won't see many of these popping up on the used market because they are keepers! Way to go Keeley! (Posted on 9/15/15)
Lots of great bang for the buck  (By Ron)

The reverb, shimmer, plate & modulation are awesome and sound terrific on their own. Coupling it with a simple & great sounding delay rounds this pedal out for a real performer. Both effects work well together. Takes up a small amount of real estate on the pedal board too. Glad I pounced on this one. Could not find what made this unit a "b-stock" unit because it looks great too. (Posted on 9/15/15)
Good quality pedal, but not perfect effects.  (By Herb)

I've had this pedal for a few weeks now, (the reason I got it was to hopefully "upgrade" from my EQ Devices Dispatchmaster). Was it an upgrade? Yes. But there is some compromise involved.

Now the Cavern's has got a beautiful Reverb. (I like it as much or better than the WET Reverb, and that's saying something). The quality of the Reverb was the first thing that I noticed when I plugged it into the Fx Loop of my Bogner Atma. This is where the Cavern's shines. The ability to control the parameters like Morph, Decay, Tone and Blend allow you to really tweak the Reverb in ways that makes it very musical, (for lack of a better term). And it's got 3 separate "Modes" , (Modulation, Studio & Shimmer), allowing you to explore Reverb in some really fantasist ways. But, (and this is a big but), I've found that when engaging the Reverb side from a dry signal that there's a sort of wash that occurs in the first second that just mushes out my guitars signal. It's weird, almost like it's warming up to begin functioning. The higher the Decay is set, the more apparent the wash is. Not sure what that's all about, and I'm still experimenting from there.

Now the Delay side is fairly straight forward, with the user able to control the Time, Regeneration and Level. It's also got an interesting thing called "Inverse Dynamic Modulation" that supposedly allows signal repeats to stay clean until they begin to decay, as well as increasing the Modulation as the signal fades. But I find the delay repeats to be "soggy" and lacking any clarity or definition, (no matter how I set it). It's lacking the crispness I'd prefer to allow the repeats not to get lost in the Reverb. It works well enough, especially for gigging. Of course with no Tap Tempo ability, (yes, I realize in order for the pedal to stay compact, you can't put everything on it), it's got some drawbacks. Also, it would have been cool if they would have added a jack for an Expression pedal to control the blend or other parameters. But again, there's only so much real estate with it's design.

All said and done, it's a decent gigging pedal, (especially if you like Reverb), and it can do a decent job on the Delay side. (Posted on 7/28/15)
not worth the money   (By The pedal guy)

Just got the pedal , spent a couple of hours with it and realized their is many pedals out there that does what this pedal suppose to do but much much better . the shimmer functions sounded too weird and cold . not too much control when it comes to the delay part of the pedal , all in all not worth the money for sure , but dont take my word for it , try it for yourself . the EQD dispatch master does a better job for sure , imagine if that pedal had shimmer and modulation !!! BAM you got yourself a winner , or go with the WET , cant think of the name of the company , or better yet for that money and less get the GFI system specular reverb 2 , now that is the end of your search for the perfect reverb shimmer delay pedal without a doubt . and by the way I am not affiliated of paid by any of these guys , cheers . More than a pedal - an Inspiration to Create!  (By David Lee)

I've had my Caverns Delay-Reverb pedal for a couple of weeks now & I just wanted to comment about how wonderful & spacious this unit is. Sound clips & videos are great but I have to say that neither of these really capture the depths & widths of the soundscapes available through this pedal. When I first received it I spent the evening with it & used a variety of amps & guitars to explore the seemingly endless possibilities with this one. Even after all the hours I have played through this now I don't think I've really reached all of the combinations & interactions with other modulation type pedals used in conjunction with this one yet. There are so many ways to go with this pedal that I believe it will take much more time & experimentation to fully utilize everything available here. It inspires to make you play differently than you might normally do just to be able to ride in on the waves of lush sweet ambient sound that might be overlooked when ripping through riffs at break neck speeds just because on might normally play that way for your own personal tastes. I rediscovered those pauses that allow the notes to sink in & swell and bloom before journeying further into the depths of voicings available through this latest offering from the House of Blue Lights. Cascading waves of reverb & delays wash over you like a rapture causing goosebumps & an awareness of yourself traveling through time. Any pedal that can lead you on a discovery, a tonal journey like this one does - is not only worth the price but is priceless when it actually inspires. This offering inspires & brings back those goosebumps you may have thought were a part of your musical journey that were lost. They're not - they're there waiting for you and they'll take you wherever you want to go. Thanks for reading. And thank you Robert Keeley & crew at Keeley Electronics! (Posted on 7/15/15)

Keeley Electronics Caverns Delay/Reverb

Take note, spelunkers, because Robert Keeley has gifted players with a cave full of treasures available to those brave enough to seek it. Hyperbole aside, this is Keeley's Caverns, and it crams two incredible tone machines into one compact box.

Like delay? Of course you do. How about reverb? No problem, how about both? Done. The Caverns beckons you to explore it.

The first thing that sticks out about the Caverns is its king's ransom of options. Unlike some two-in-one boxes that offer neutered versions of each effect, the Caverns utilizes two full-featured effects in one, to the tune of seven knobs and one three-way mode switch.

The delay side is built using a 24-bit processor for optimal cleans. The three knobs—Level, Regen and Time—are kept deliberately clean and simple in order to be swallowed by the reverb abyss that lurks after it. Consider the delay side to be the serene entrance, leading to the monster that lurks within.

The reverb side is a whopper: Blend, Tone and Decay knobs help players fine-tune the incoming signal, which is governed by the Mode switch and Morph knob working in tandem. The three modes—Modulated, Plate and Shimmer—change what the Morph knob does to the signal.

In Modulated mode, the Morph knob predictably modulates the signal. With the Morph rolled all the way back, there's only a slight bit of warble, but when cranked, the modulation runs wild for some truly spatial sounds.

When set to Plate mode, the Morph knob governs the pre-delay. For those not familiar with this term, pre-delay is essentially a "slap-back" control, as it affects how long the reverb takes to come in after playing a note. When really dialed in, the Plate mode can sound just like those old studio plates.

Lastly, the Morph knob acts as an octave mix when in Shimmer mode. This lets users dial in just how much shimmer they want to find in the Caverns, from a slight twinkle to a full-on choir.

Like all Keeley pedals, the Caverns is hand-made in Oklahoma and features pristine components, true bypass switching on both sides and standard power operation.
