I typically love the dark murky tones I get from my original Carbon Copy, but there are time you have to brighten things up. I have not ran these two in tandem yet, but look forward to that experience. The pedal is of the same great quality as the original with only a little added brightness on the repeats. Another great pedal from MXR. (Posted on 9/20/16)

This is my third MXR purchase and my first MXR pedal that isn't from the Bass Innovations line. I've owned mine for about a week now and I love it more and more each time I play it which is usual for MXR. I am a bass player and I just thought maybe it would make sense to get the Bright version first instead of the OG version, for the time being. I guess my point is it sounds just as great on bass. I have the MXR Bass Envelope Filter and the Bass Chorus Deluxe. The M269 goes well with any other effect. (Posted on 9/4/16)

I saw the video where I could stack this with my 2 carbon copies and knew I needed to have on.
The Bright is an amazing pedal and is exactly as the stacking video said it was and how it sounded as well as stacked with the Carbon Copy (Posted on 5/17/16)

Saw this online and had to have it. Sounds great and is built just like you would expect from MXR. Stacked with my Carbon Copy I get the best of both worlds. Can get a David Gilmour sound with both together or and Edge and Seger with just the Bright. All my pedals are MXR and I haven't found any others that come close to the sound or are built as tough. Others can keep their digital pedals. Nothing beats analog. Great job MXR and PGS! (Posted on 10/22/15)

Over the past year, I've fallen in love with the MXR line, and this pedal is the latest example of why. The quality of tone and features is excellent, and especially at this price point. I do love the sound of this little box. The bright repeats compel the listener to pay a deeper level of attention. And the pedal invites and challenges the guitarist to keep playing, to master the nuances now available at their fingertips. Warm, yet bright. Great stuff. (Posted on 10/13/15)
Awesome clean bright delay  (By Andre)

Great, clear and reliable delay. Cool thing is that it doesn't darken your tone that much and if you play any music genre it's versatile and with the exact amount of delay an analag pedal should have. Also, the Mod switch makes it sound like if there was a chorus on so for clean stuff that works just perfect. Great job MXR and ProGuitarShop! (Posted on 9/25/15)
The best delay pedal!  (By Jimmy)

I used Boss DD-3 and Way huge Aqua Puss for a very time. They have different feature. DD-3 can have 2 outputs, that's good for 2 Amp stereo, but mine is old, it becomes a little noisy. Aqua Puss is analog, it sounds good but too big in pedal board. This Carbon Copy "Bright" generates the best sound feeling for my ears~ I bought it because of "Bright", I though it will be similar like the "bright" button in some Amps. But I am wrong, it doesn't change the tone to brighter. It has the most natural feeling delay sound that I have ever felt. Let my spirit feel "bright". Haha~ (Posted on 9/22/15)

The review by CountFeedback on 7/14/15 describes this pedal perfectly. It's brighter and clearer on the repeats than the original CC, but definitely not 'digital-bright'. If you're looking for a simple analog delay, I think it's hard to beat the Carbon Copy Bright. (Posted on 9/7/15)

Nice pedal. I mostly use slapback or tape-ish delays to capture early rockabilly sounds. This pedal is brighter than both my TC Electronics Flashback, and my BBE Two Timer pedal. Repeats cut through nicely and don't just turn to mush in the mix of the band. Besides, you can never have too many delay pedals! (Posted on 8/26/15)

Bought this for a second delay for the board. I wanted a little brighter delay to compliment the Strymon El Capistan without being brittle or to sterile. This fits the bill perfectly, whether clean or high gain this delay sounds fantastic even with the modulation engaged. It has just the right amount difference from the original to make worth getting. Big thanks to Andy and PGS for the stellar demo video's and always looking out for the guitarist. This is yet another fantastic mod to an existing pedal that gives you some great flavor for your taste buds! (Posted on 7/19/15)

i had been looking for a while to expand my array of delay sounds by adding a simpler to use delay to pair with my timefactor.

i was seriously considering the regular carbon copy, but the comparison video sealed the deal to go with the bright and i'm a big fan of the crisp high end that comes through with this pedal. (Posted on 7/15/15)

MXR pedals are built solid. The sound of the bright CC model definitely cuts through for more audible rhythmic parts and shimmery jangle, the repeats still have plenty of the signature CC grime... definitely not digital.
Color not as bright & glitter green as I had imagined from the pictures. (Posted on 7/14/15)

I have tried pretty much every analog delay out there & I've always found that they muddy up the sound live. We play 150 - 200 shows a year so I've put a lot of pedals through their paces & to me, this one takes first place. The delay trails come through nice & clear without interfering with your tone, so whatever lines you're playing retain their clarity no matter their complexity. It's voiced beautiful & has a real "Space Echo" quality. I love this pedal & I'm sure it will be on my board for many years to come!!!

It arrived today and it is indeed a fantastic sounding delay. Only a 4 on price because of the poor Cnd dollar and those brokerage fees. If you're looking for an analog pedal this one is worth it. (Posted on 7/3/15)

MXR Carbon Copy Bright

In 2008, Dunlop brought on Jeorge Tripps and the Way Huge line. Tripps and engineer Bob Cedro’s first MXR product was the Carbon Copy. Since 2008, the Carbon Copy acted as a continuation of the original revered Analog Delay from 1979, and guitarists everywhere shared its reverence. But as playing evolved, so did the players. And these players soon demanded a change. The darkness inherent in the Carbon Copy circuit soon led players to ask for the same fantastic tone, but different. Your pleas have not fallen upon deaf ears, and we are excited to share the Carbon Copy Bright, available exclusively through Pro Guitar Shop.

Selecting the exact changes to the Carbon Copy circuit took over four years, and involved many revisions and a great deal of trial and error. Eventually, many prototypes were produced, and one was closest to perfect. After one last tweak, the final prototype received a unanimous thumbs up from everyone at Pro Guitar Shop. It was in this moment that the Carbon Copy Bright was truly realized.

The chipset of the Carbon Copy Bright remains unchanged—warm, bucket brigade analog goodness is still the name of the game. Tone seekers will be thrilled with the changes to the circuit, as the repeats are more “vocal-like” than the original. The Carbon Copy Bright certainly blurs the lines between vintage analog BBD chips and brighter vintage tape delays such as the Echoplex. A wonderful byproduct of a brighter delay is the perception of extended repeats further than the original before feeding back. The Carbon Copy Bright’s defined repeats are a great companion to the original’s darker wash, and we made them play nicely together.

The modulation section of the Carbon Copy Bright has also seen a favorable boost in character. Because the delay line is brighter, notes are much better articulated and so is the accompanying modulation. Chords strummed through a modulated Carbon Copy Bright are a thing of beauty, and hang around longer before disintegrating into the ether.

When removing the back plate, two controls await: Width and Depth. These controls are accentuated by the brightness even more, especially at more generous settings. The range of both knobs is enhanced by the tonal adjustments, as the nuances of the ebb and flow now leap out, and the most extreme settings of each are no longer buried in the mix.

With 600 milliseconds of delay time, an enhanced frequency range, vibrant delay path and true bypass switching, the Carbon Copy Bright appeals to those searching for an all-analog delay with a full-bodied present tonal palette. The future is bright.

MXR Carbon Copy Bright Features:

  • Brighter delay circuit with more vocal-like repeats and note articulation
  • Interacts extremely well with original Carbon Copy
  • Modulation has a more dramatic effect
  • Hand-made in the USA
