Vox AC30 Custom Classic 2x12 Combo - AC30CC2X

The AC30 is the amp that made Vox the premier name in British amplifiers. It came about due directly to a request from late 1950's rock n' roll group The Shadows, who were originally ardent endorsers of the early Vox AC15's. As the rock n' roll craze exploded in Britain The Shadows and other groups began playing larger venues, it quickly became apparent that the AC15 could not provide the hall-filling volume they required. Coincidentally the first Fender "Twin-Amp" became available about this time in England, offering 60 Watts of clean output with two 30-Watt Jensen speakers. The Shadows had tried it and were mightily impressed by the volume, but the tone was not as rich as what they were accustomed to from the AC15. The hefty price tag and 110 Volt operation were major deterrents as well. Naturally, this lead them to ask Dick Denney at Vox, "Why not a "Twin" AC15"? It had the characteristic sound they wanted, they just need more of it. Denney went to work solving the problem, and shortly thereafter the AC30/4 legend was born.

The Vox AC30CC2X Custom Classic Combo does justice to this legacy. It has all the features and tonal qualities that made the original AC30 so unique, but with a few modern touches as well. Vox / Wharfdale Custom 12" Speakers are standard in this 2x12, two-channel combo. Footswitchable Spring reverb (with dwell switch & tone control) and tremolo are also included. The addition of a true bypass effects loop with independent level control gives you an incredible range of effects blending options. Tone controls include EQ on the Top Boost channel and the classic Vox "Brilliant" switch on the Normal channel. These channels are also blendable, putting a veritable cornucopia of tone sculpting options at your fingertips. Other options include a cathode bias switch, a switchable smoothing filter, and a tone cut control.
