The MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe Overdrive PedalHere is the MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe Overdrive Pedal. This is the overdrive pedal for people who are unhappy with their tube screamer. Like any basic tube screamer type overdrive, the Blue Boy Deluxe features the infamous 4558 op amp, but it is socketed so you can experiment with others if you wish. The MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe also features in-depth tone sculpting with the four mini knobs at the top, giving you control over treble, midrange, sag, and overall tone. All of this makes the MI Audio Blue Boy Overdrive pedal a super versatile addition to any pedal board. MI Blue Boy Deluxe Overdrive ToneThe MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe has a fairly large gain range for smooth overdrive saturation to clean boost. The Bright control allows you to contour the top end for your amp and guitar (most ts pedals have a grainy top end that’s annoying on some amps). The Midrange control is very useful for dialing in a cutting lead tone or getting rid of that ts midrange “hump” we’re all so familiar with. The Tone control is very intuitive, it rolls off the lows when you boost the highs and vice versa. The Character knob gives you control over the tightness of the low end. Everything from crispy and tight, to big and bottomy is possible in any gain range with the MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe Overdrive Pedal. Displaying 1 to 2 (of 2 reviews)

I've had the BBD for about a year and it's a pretty impressive pedal. The tone options are quite varied and you need to work with it for a bit to really find your personal sweet spot - but not too long! My favourite part is the "character" knob which changes the overdrive from tight to fuzz - this is a lot of fun and it really is like having two separate pedals. In fact the only reason it's not getting a higher rating is the build quality is a bit suspect - the chassis is fine but the knobs are a bit weak and I get the odd (worrying) arc of electricity when connecting the power supply.

First let me just say that the reason I didn't give this excellent pedal a higher rating is because in the higher gain settings, it started sounding harsh to me (his may be because I used single coil pickups for the review).
This is a great pedal in the low to mid gain settings.
The array of tone shaping knobs offered, allow going from one amp to another, while still being able to dial in 'your' sound.
This is the pedal for the player who wants that classic TS pedal on steroids.
With the Blue Boy, you can go from your comfy home studio to an alien open mic stage, and still tweek in how you want to sound.
I love the way it sounded for good roadhouse blues and power funk rhythm playing.
All things TS, and more are available with this wonderfully designed box.
What better pedal to have on your recording board? And with true bypass, your tone won't do the old disappearing act.
MI Audio hit it outta the park with this well appointed little box (did I mention it's rather demure
