Select alder or premium ash woods are used for the basis of these stunning instruments, providing the foundations for exceptional tone. The necks of the Fender Custom Deluxe Stratocasters and Telecasters are lightly flamed “A” maple with a 9.5” radius and 22 narrow jumbo frets. The Stratocasters have a 1965 “C” shaped neck and the Telecasters have a downsized “U” shape. These features add up to a vintage styled feel with ease of playing, but with a beef and heft to the neck and frets that allows a player to dig in to the board and wring out some true soul. Players can choose maple or dark hand-selected Indian rosewood fretboards, and both necks come with clay dot inlays, as well as rolled fingerboard edges. The pickups are direct from the Fender Custom Shop. The Fender Custom Deluxe Stratocaster’s neck and middle pickup are Fender Custom Shop ’69’s, with grey bobbins and the middle is reversed wound/reverse polarity for hum canceling in position 2 and 4. The bridge is a Custom Shop Texas Special, made famous in tone by Stevie Ray Vaughan, and an exceptionally strong bridge pickup with profound character and grace. Add 5 way switching, for the delicate and sweet bell tones and the Fender Custom Deluxe Stratocaster provides all the versatility, power, and grace of classic Stratocasters. The Fender Custom Deluxe Telecaster has two custom shop pickups that are not only vintage in character, but also modern in their voicing. The neck is a Custom Shop “Twisted” Tele single coil, and the bridge is a Custom Shop Hot Nocaster Single coil. The traditional 3 position switch with vintage tophat switch gives all the Telecaster tone you need. The bridge of the Fender Custom Deluxe Stratocaster provides a significant additive to the total tone equation, with a 2 point-point synchronized tremolo and polished solid stainless steel saddles and block. The Fender Custom Deluxe Telecaster has a custom chrome plated steel bridge plate with plated solid brass saddles. For both instruments, the stainless steel adds significant heft to the guitar’s tone, and provides a sustaining richness in sound and clarity, all the while maintaining a tuning stability and reliability that can only be mastered through the Fender Custom Shop’s methods. The tuning stability is further enhanced by the Fender/Schaller deluxe staggered cast/sealed locking tuning machines. This feature of the Fender Custom Deluxe dispenses with tuning trees, which also allow the tonal qualities of the guitar to breathe and resonate, while contributing to the unparalleled tuning stability of these instruments. Add a bone nut for smooth action – there will be no string snagging through this neck. The finishing touches for the Fender Custom Deluxe line include a host of classic finish options. These finishes are beautifully rendered on several layers of nitro lacquer finish, which also contributes to the exceptional tone of these instruments. Choose classic Fender colors such as Lake Placid Blue, Vintage White, or 2 Tone Sunburst. Or really stand out with vintage Candy Tangerine or HLE Gold. An Ash body can come with either 2 tone sunburst or the beautifully rendered Aged Cherry Sunburst, which must be seen to be truly appreciated.
