I guess I was a little too harsh on last review since it didn't pass moderation.
But this is an honest opinion from a pedal junky and certified tone chaser and I think that in the end, TC and PGS won't have any problem selling a bunch of these regardless of what I say... But since I bought this product about a month and a half it's been a rollercoaster. First I gave this unit 5 stars, I was blown away of the features,... the tone print and editor are simply amazing. you do feel like you are working with different compressors with each different tone print, I beamed in the Stratocomp using my strat (obviously) and I was very impressed by the brightness and punchiness you get out of that preset. That is of course until I started to put it to real life use and the Stratocomp raises the volume considerably... to a point that drives any pedal in front of it... And since it's a special preset I can't just dial down the level since the knob has been assigned to some setting I've never even heard of... But I have no issue with that... I'm willing to learn all that stuff it it means getting a better tone... Soon, I realized most tone prints are way louder than normal and it takes time to dial it in right... and I do mean time since the knobs actually have LATENCY!!! at first, I was like, ahhh, I don;t care, but man it is important to dial in just the right amount of anything... I've spoken to the TC person that does their twitter and he said they are working on an update to correct that problem, Which makes me very happy because I really want to like this pedal! But regardless of those minor annoyances, Comes the real issue..
I don't think they sound very good. No preset, no mode, nothing I've dialed in sounds like a handful of other compressors on the market today... TC always raises the bar, and maybe it's just taking me time to learn to love it, but the vintage mode, seriously, what was TC thinking? It sounds darker than an MXR Dynacomp! and I do love my Dynacomp!!! But it is so dark I guess to make the spectra mode seem super clear and bright. I now mostly use the vintage mode since it's the only mode in my opinion that can get any real long sustain , or percussive attack... I love that the spectra mode is subtle if you want it to be... But it never goes over that lump of a good compressor to a GREAT compressor... I would take the Xotic Sp, Wampler Ego, Keeley 4 Knob, Diamond, Warden any day against the Hypergravity... It just doesn't have the magic mojo... Like most thing TC, it's extremely clean, extremely Digital, TOO DAMN digital... But I am a huge fan of TC, I just purchased the Triple Delay and I'm loving it... But I was very disappointed by the comp. since it's an important part of my signal chain. I'm not saying it's horrible as other people say on the internet... I just do not think it's a 5 star unit. It doesn't take you to that magical place. But it does it's job. and it does it better than most compressors under 100.
But definitely not over. (Posted on 12/7/15)

I had a Pigtronix Philosopher's Tone (Germanium ltd), and this compressor from TC Electronic blows it out of the water. The Philosopher's Tone was so noisy, and it was difficult to dial in the tone I wanted. The Hypergravity is quiet, rich-sounding yet transparent, solidly built, and the variety of tone you get from those four knobs and toggle is amazing. It works just like the compressor in my DAW, and sounds just as flawless. This is going to be on my pedalboard for a long time. (Posted on 10/16/15)

This was the only place I found this new product. Pro Guitar Shop even had several in stock. Check out, delivery, & everything else regarding this sale was flawless. The TC Electronic HyperGravity is a top quality compressor. It preforms exactly as advertised on the promotion video. Of course, TC Electronic is a quality brand anyway. (Posted on 10/15/15)

TC Electronic HyperGravity Compressor

TC Electronic knows pedals. So, when TC Electronic releases a compressor, you'd be wise to take notice. Indeed, TC's HyperGravity compressor seeks to take compression and augment the concept, developing a Multiband mode that brings compression into the 21st century and beyond.

For those DAW users out there, multiband compression will seem like second nature; after all, VSTs have been using it for a while. Multiband compression stacks several compressors to attack the frequency range in parallel, giving a smooth clamp band-by-band instead of one compressor for the entire frequency range. TC calls this "Spectra" and it is but one setting on the toggle.

Of course, standard stompbox compression is also available with the HyperGravity, with four knobs to govern the compression circuit: Sustain controls compression amount, from just a tad to full-blown squash. Attack changes how quickly the compression applies to the signal. The Level knob on the HyperGravity is just that—level. However, this level knob can be set to a massive lead boost that will push your amp into the red. Finally, the Blend control is a nice wet/dry knob, which can help add some punch to those players using acoustics or hollow-bodied guitars.

Finally, TonePrint mode allows players to import their own customized compression settings from vice-grip squeeze to chicken-pickin' goodness. As with all TC TonePrint equipped-pedals, your mind is the greatest tool.

TC Electronic HyperGravity Compressor Features:

  • Multiband compression in a pedal
  • Four knobs give players ultimate control
  • True bypass
  • Standard 9v center-negative power operation (100mA draw)
