Great Pedal, Not What I Needed  (By Pablomago)

I ended up returning this pedal. The reverbs are cool, lots of nice ambience settings with modulated trails. But I had to ask myself, "How often will I really need these sounds?" And the answer was not too often. My plan was to create a Tone Print for a nice multi-purpose reverb and use the other settings for color. But after a band practice, I realized it wasn't the one for me.

No complaints on quality, sound or anything else. Just not the right thing for my needs. (Posted on 2/11/17)

Swirling Dervish of sonic destruction- Think Gabriel's horn and the walls of Jericho. That's what this pedal can do! Also lots of peace lovin' hippie sounds too. Superb when paired with TC's Alter Ego 2. (Posted on 2/2/17)

Like probably everyone else on this forum, I've been on an intense pedalquest for some time now. I've accumulated a pile of pedals that will someday go on ebay. It's quite a sorting process...try them for a while, then off the board and try something else, then back on the board with some new combination... and eventually losers and winners become apparent. With this pedal the sorting process was immediate. I took the advice of someone else in this forum and "turned the dang knobs." Super impressed by the wide array of ambient sounds. Recently I read the term "note bloom" and it got me to listening in a new way. Definitely some wonderful, wacky, and musical blooming going on with this pedal. I'm glad I bought it. Radical Reverbs at a great price!  (By MikeS.)

I already own both the original trinity and alter ego. As a pair they sound amazing and was curious to hear the new expanded Ethereal sounds.. At first I thought it might be just too much. But after a little knob fiddling, WOW! What a beautiful wash of verb. It sounds so nice with the Strat into the champ, i almost hate to put it on the pedal board. I found some of the modulation patches a bit intense at first, but very tweak-able. There's a lot of room for experimenting here that goes far beyond normal reverb. Will i use it for playing cover tunes? Probably not on a lot of it. There is a nice setting like a verb and delay that sounds great dialed back and would be easier then dancing on pedals at the solo. Already i can see tweaks that get sounds on things we didn't do and wanted to. Not even mentioning the who-knows-how-many toneprints are out there as well. But I think its the cranked bizzare-ness that will be really fun and can't wait to hear the stereo effect once its mounted on the board. So if you're looking for spring and plate sounds to add to a reverb-less amp, this probably isn't gonna be the best choice. I'm still looking to the sounds of the future! Flying cars! Jet packs! T2! seriously, $99 is a no brainer. TC quality(love their footswitch!), unique sounds, affordable price. Hard to beat that. (Posted on 8/13/16)

Awesome ambient reverb pedal. It delves into the more extreme flavors of reverb, and even if you have a multi-verb pedal, the algorithms in this one are unique, so it's worth checking out. It sounds incredible in stereo, and is a must-have tool for any studio. You can get some conventional reverb tones out of it, but it's really designed for lush, ambient masterpieces. You will not find a better device for that purpose than the T2, and it is very fairly priced. Love it, use it, highly recommend it. (Posted on 7/14/16)

If you're looking for a high quality reverb and are on a bit of an ambient or noise kick, the T2 is a match made in heaven for you. It's got just about everything you could want. However, it really will take some time for you to figure out how to work the thing so that it sounds exactly how you want it. If you only want a standard reverb, sorry, but you'll have a hard time with this one. If you only need the barest minimum in reverb, you CAN get some really basic tones with low decay and mix settings.

Overall, this pedal's a keeper, and at this price, you'll want to get one before they're gone. (Posted on 6/18/16)

I almost sent this pedal back when I first started playing it. Even though I was prepared for weird, gigantic, modulated verbs. But then I played it into a stereo amp set up, started dialing in on sounds, paired it with the Alter Ego...and four hours later I was like -- nope, this baby is staying. I'd suggest to everybody to explore lower settings for decay and mix, and also definitely play it with a delay ahead of it into a stereo setup to hear what you've got yourself into. Tone Print also a great bonus. I would have loved if there was more control over modulation, but maybe next time. (Posted on 1/27/16)

You don't want this box. Leave it for those with endless creativity, those looking for excellent sounds to make better music. Really, let it alone. Why should you be stuck with a pedal that inspires musicality, at the cost of $99?
I gave it 3 stars for quality, as I have broken tc pedals in the past, so far this stands up. (Posted on 12/30/15)

This pedal is another pedal on my board with a lot of knobs and modes. This is exactly what I wanted. The Digitech Hyper Phase, Line 6 Echo Park, and now the TC T2 reverb can attest to my constant need to masochistically fidget with settings and tweak in an endless spectrum of (sometimes euphonious, but often not) sounds that puncture eardrums and are the number three cause of kidney failure. I don't spend money on something my amplifier can easily do itself and you will never see my beer pockets buying a boutique pedal. But I digress. This pedal cost me $99 on sale with free priority mail shipping. For the crazy sounds and endless tweakability, $99 is way worth it. That being said, if you're looking to play you some blues with your guit-box, this pedal doesn't do your basic reverb sounds. The spring reverb is nonexistent and almost every setting has some sort of flange or modulation on it that will flip your signal on its ass. For the people out there who enjoy big, weird, noise, and scaring your pets, this is your pedal and it's at a fantastic price. (Posted on 12/18/15)

I have, & have loved the original Trinity, but this new pedal simply blows it away. Every verb selection is usable and easy to tweak. There's not wasted setting on it. It's already on my board. This is probably the last verb pedal I'll need to buy. (Posted on 12/8/15)

Keith Richards attributes his drug use survival to recognizing that more is not really better.
I had used a Hall of Fame that had replaced an EH Holy Grail. And thought this one, which was on sale would be a good replacement.
Well I am returning it.
I really hate boxes that you never use and this would have been one of those. Crazy ambisnt delays and repeats are on board and probably just right for your video game sound track you are working on. For a classic rock bar band dog like me..useless.
I did upload a spring verb from the amazing TC TonePrint but I am going back to the HOF mini for the three verbs I'll use.

Get ready to take a trip with this sound scape reverb space ship. I once spent about two hours in a sound room at Chicago Music Exchange just conjuring up amazing patterns with the Eventide space pedal. Well this one is the same experience. Thing is I did want a little bit of plain old spring for my clean amp...so tone print to the rescue. I downloaded a great toneprint spring Deluxe verb tone and leave it on the tone print setting.

I did a lot of research before buying this pedal. Checked out all the cool boutique pedal's sold by PGS, but kept thinking about this one. I already had a TC Electron Alter Ego v2, so I knew the quality and workmanship was going to be there. This is not your run-of-the-mill reverb pedal. Sure, you could easily set it to a nice plate reverb and forget it, but this baby is meant for being an integral piece for creating lush, beautiful soundscapes. The modulations and shimmering tails can be as pronounced or subtle as you'd like and it's just about impossible to make this pedal sound bad. It truly produces some of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard. (Posted on 6/9/15)

If you want classic reverb sounds, this pedal is not for you. On the other hand, if you're going for something more ambient, you'd be hard-pressed to find a pedal at this price point that is capable of so many interesting and unique sounds. When it comes to pedals, I prefer one-trick ponies and/or set-it-and-forget-it types. But this thing has won me over with what it can do. I have a hunch I could play with it for months (years?) before exhausting its potential. (Posted on 6/9/15)

I was really butthurt about digital reverbs for a long time after buying one that sounded like a CG glass ball shattering into powder on a 3d image of a marble floor and showering it with pixelated glass dust. TC reverbs don't sound like that...unless you want them to, and sure, sometimes you do. But the fact that it can sound warm, dark, and REAL is what makes it really useful. The whole build of it is incredibly efficient and totally non-annoying to use, and the control you have over the sound of it is pretty much infinite. Got it on sale while it lasted, but if you want a reverb that does very cool weird stuff and also can do great "normal" verb, you should buy it even if you missed out on the sale. I bought this a few weeks ago. Every time I play guitar I find myself playing around (a lot!) with this thing, so many settings! For around $160 it’s the perfect ambient pedal. Reverb I and II are my current favorites. Setting this last in the pedal chain, with a volume pedal and delays feeding into it, really bring the already crazy settings into interstellar space travel (yes, I said that). And the sleek design, leaves this mysterious black box with a lot of extra room on the pedal board. Just don’t tell your guitar buddies. They’ll be begging to borrow it. (Posted on 11/15/14)

I am actually inspired to play more guitar with this pedal. I find that I am exploring the instrument in a different way through the sound of the T2. Out of the box I set it up with the stereo outs to two separate amps, chose setting 4 randomly, turned every other knob up all the way, hit a D major swelled in with guitar volume knob, soaked in the sound and just cried. No joke. TEARS! I thought the ethereal patches on the Trinity were amazing when I got it. The T2 is the perfect complement to it. My sound and inspiration has expanded tenfold. (Posted on 11/5/14)

I have had my eye on a Mr. Black Eterna Gold for an absurdly long time, and then I saw the T2...and now I own the T2. Each bank is it's own entity, from normal room/hall sounds to "I plugged my guitar into a Tandy 286 and threw it down a well that also happens to be a black hole", it does it all, and that's what made my decision. And the TonePrint app/editor is pretty ridiculous as well (I just beamed Jónsi into my pedal, that's how awesome it is). It is hands-down the best purchase I've made in really long time. If you have seen the demo video, you know what this pedal does. It can do subtle reverbs but that's not really its intended purpose. The reverb effect can be heavily modulated and the sound becomes its own character. It is also responsive to picking dynamics, and the editor offers many parameters to access via USB. Finally, this pedal kicks old synth pads into an entirely new dimension. (Posted on 9/24/14)

TC Electronic T2

When we released our original Trinity, we received some stellar feedback. Our two new Ethereal modes alone made the pedal a winner. However, the rest of the algorithms were one-to-one with TC’s original Hall of Fame reverb. When the time came to release a new version, we knew we had to up the stakes, and the result is a completely overhauled engine, bearing no similarities to the original hall of fame.

The new T2 is quite the mélange of reverbs; we took everything that people liked about the Ethereal 1 and 2 patches and used them as the blueprint for eight all-new algorithms that will take your guitar to the doorstep of the dark side.

While the original contained the usual assemblage of reverb algorithms—room, spring, plate, et al—the new algorithms are anything but pedestrian:

  • Position 1: Warm space and slow modulation with stretchy, elastic qualities—slow undulations surround your tone and coat it in thick gobs of reverb.
  • Position 2: Long sustaining verb mixed with watery, organ-like vibrato—a gentle modulation trails from a smooth, silky decay.
  • Position 3: Clear, glassy reverb with an ominous low end throb—pristine rack reverb backed by a slow pulse.
  • Position 4: Huge cathedral without any boundaries—imagine the haunting verb that would emanate from a cathedral of infinite dimensional space.
  • Position 5: Slow pitch bending reverb with doubling effect—this is a very unique gentle chorus effect that inspires more often than not.
  • Position 6: Syrupy plate reverb with warm tails and subtle modulation—the kind of reverb guys like Neil Young wishes they had.
  • Position 7: Flanger-Verb with classic 80's sweep that stays in tune—a different type of modulation that sounds like a studio rack.
  • Position 8: Deep, natural hall with maximum allowed decay—perfect for huge ambient swells.

The T2 is wired for true bypass and accepts a standard 9v 2.1mm center-negative Boss-style power supply. The current draw is 100mA. Make sure you isolated power supply is capable of putting out 100mA of current before assigning it to a tap.
