Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers Passes Away at age 74
A pop legend passed away last week—Phil Everly, half of the legendary harmony duo the Everly Brothers, died at age 74 after a long battle with a lung condition.
The Everly Brothers rose to fame due to their perfect harmonies and gorgeous melodies. The brothers mixed rock n roll with a folky, bluegrassy touch and wound up with 35 Top 100 songs during their career, including “Bye Bye Love” and “Wake Up Little Susie.”
Phil Everly is survived by his wife Patti and his brother Don.
In late 2013, Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones released an album of Everly Brothers covers entitled “Foreverly.” Though the originals are perfect, we here at PGS highly recommend checking out Billie Joe & Norah’s album—it’s a perfect tribute to one of the greatest vocal groups of the modern day.
